What the press say...
KING EARL BOOGIE BAND - Loaded And Live KEBB Records 2006-1
Originally formed by Paul King and Colin Earl (who played together in Mungo Jerry) the current KEBB consists of Dave Peabody (g/v) Ian Campbell (g/bv) John Coghlan (d) on most of the tracks (Keith Allen (d) on the others) with Colin Earl (p/bv) and Les Calvert (b/bv and lead on 'Slow Down').
We are used to hearing Dave Peabody as a solo act or occassionally with Colin Earl as a boogie-based piano guitar duo. This is as far removed from that as you can imagine. Recorded in two live concerts sessions in Cornwall in late 2005 the band give us some us some rocking interpretations of some blues standards and some new stuff. The standards include a cracking version of Ray Charles' 'What'd I Say', as well as numbers originally penned by Lonnie Johnson, Hambone Willie Newbern, Tommy Johnson, Robert Johnson, and Ellas McDaniel (Bo Diddley).
There are also some Peabody originals, the best of which is the opener 'Money To Burn', run a close second by Dave's 'Blue Slate Slide'. The later of those just may have been inspired by the venue for one of these gigs, the Carnglaze Cavern near Liskeard. That venue, home for 9 of the tracks, with it's very special acoustics, adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the music. But don't be misled, the remaining four tracks are super too.
All in all, a terrific outing. Don't let this one get away.

KEBB 1 The King Earl Boogie Band: Loaded And Live.
This is where Dave Peabody gets out his electric guitar and rocks!
He provides lead vocals while Colin Earl tears up the joint on piano, Ian Campbell pumps out some fiery guitar and John Coghlan (20 years with Status Quo) keeps the beat on drums.
One of Britain's big blues bands with a cracking album.
