An Audience With John Coghlan

Friday 19th September saw the launch of John's brand new "Audience with.." show which by all accounts was a total success for all who attended. As it transpired there were actually two pieces of genuine historic Quo memorabilia on display. Firstly we had John's original Ludwig Drum Kit that was used on all the studio recordings from Matchstick Men up to and including Dog Of Two Head. Then we had an added bonus when Dean Vale brought a replica of the Ford Escort Quo Hot Rod that his father Ray used to race back in the mid-seventies when John sponsored the car.

The first half of the show saw John talking freely about his life and career with co-host Russ Chadd. Everything from drum kits to the pros and cons of wearing Platform Boots was included in this unique insight into John's lengthy and interesting career. A short interval then made way for the second part of the show a live performance of Classic Quo songs which included some of the familiar hits but also some much rarer performances of such album tracks as All The Reasons, Daughter, Technicolour Dreams, and Lonely Man. It was a special night for many reasons, one being that it was coincidently also John's birthday! The evening closed with a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday To You" conducted by none other than the birthday boy himself. A fantastic and unforgetable evening for all.
